‘Superstrings’ is a unique double act that will take you from Einstein to modern particle physics… with detours to Bach and Boccherini.

An exciting performance between a virtuoso violinist and the Head of the Department of Particle Physics at Oxford University combines the electricity of a live musical act with insights into the deepest corners of the universe.

From Einstein’s theories that shaped our conception of space and time, to modern ideas in particle physics, the performance covers relativity, quantum theory and, of course, superstrings. The concepts are illuminated with analogies and demonstrations on Einstein’s favourite instrument, the violin, and punctuated with musical interludes from his favourite composers, including pieces by Bach and Boccherini. We find out about extra ‘hidden’ dimensions of space, vibrating strings believed to make up everything around us and hear about the biggest experiment in the world.
