Brain awareness week at the Dana Centre sees Qualia Theatre’s first London performance of Re-wired. The performance will be followed by in-depth discussion about the issues raised with the Qualia cast, brain scientists, those involved in supporting brain injury patients and an encephalitis survivor.

Have you ever thought of your brain as an egg? What happens when this delicate organ gets damaged? Examine the neurology of emotion in Qualia’s production of Re-wired, where the experience and consequences of brain injury are communicated through various means.

The post-performance discussion will involve neuroscientist Noah Russell, who will describe how the brain communicates and how communication breakdown might occur. Clinical neuropsychologist Bonnie-Kate Dewar will explain how the she helps rehabilitate patients who have suffered brain injury and the methods used to ‘rewire’ the brain. Ava Easton will talk about the different types of support brain-injured patients require and what the Encephalitis Society does to try and meet their needs. Finally, Jennifer Orford will reflect on her own experience of encephalitis caused by the herpes simplex virus and what life is like now, two years on. Get to grips with various perspectives on brain injury with those who are directly involved.

Please note that latecomers will not be admitted after 19.00.
