Find out how the brain can inspire creativity as well as produce it with our interactive Art of the Brain workshop.
Many people have been inspired by the brain, including Dr Lizzie Burns, a science-based artist. Lizzie will begin the event by displaying some of her work, and then it’s over to you. Can you be inspired to create by the organ that makes us who we are?
In the first workshop you can have a go at painting and drawing brain cells, which connect with each other through hundreds of branches and roots. These tree-like cells are the building blocks of the brain.
The next workshop gives you the chance to sculpt a brain using air-dough. Brain researchers will be on hand to tell you about the brain’s different regions, controlling our senses, our muscles, and our emotions, among other things. Model these regions using different coloured dough and then take your model brain home with you at the end of the event.
Be prepared to get messy, but don’t worry - aprons will be provided. You’ll find out how to tap into your own creativity, and learn more about your brain at the same time.
