The latest advances in forensic science are making life tougher for criminals. But how reliable are these new technologies, and how open are they to abuse?
With police forensics expert John Bond, discover the array of personal information scientists can now extract from a single fingerprint.
Allan Jamieson will reveal how police can obtain a DNA profile from just a handful of cells retrieved from a crime scene.
And join Sean Spence to hear how brain scanning could be used to uncover whether suspects are telling the truth.
The evening’s investigations and discussions will be led by Hugh Whittall of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, which has recently published a report on this hot topic: ‘The forensic use of bioinformation: ethical issues’.
