How can dance communicate emotion? Does the audience need to see the full body of the dancer, or are certain movements enough? And is our understanding of dance culturally-specific and acquired, or universal and innate?
Join psychologists Richard Wiseman and Peter Lovatt, and dancer Caroline Duker to explore how dance portrays and triggers emotions. Participate in a live experiment and dance-off, and give your opinion on how dancing makes you feel.
This event is part of Big Dance 2008.
Event organised by:
The Science Museum
Peter Lovatt, researcher in psychology of improvisation and role-play, University of Hertfordshire
Caroline Duker, dancer
Facilitator: Richard Wiseman, Professor of the Public Understanding of Psychology, University of Hertfordshire
