The Nurrish Lab uses a simple organism, the nematode worm Caenorhabditis elegans, to explore the connections between chemicals in the brain and muscle contractions. Nurrish’s composer-in-residence Keith Johnson has been creating musical expressions of the techniques and ideas underlying this research and exploring the connections between the worm’s motions and our emotions. Come and find out the outcome of this unique collaboration between science and art where, rather than the discoveries, it is the scientific process that serves as the muse.

The compositions will be performed and explained throughout the event. There will be piano music in the bar and a new film by artist Sarah Carne. Musical ensemble [rout] will be performing world premieres by Keith Johnson and Paul Whitty in the studio.

Come and hear the new music from the worm farm!

A free CD of Keith's music will be available for all attendees
