Ever wondered what it takes to put a man on the moon? Or stopped to consider the enormity of the behind-the-scenes effort which made mankind’s most fantastical aspiration a reality?
Only 12 astronauts have ever walked on the surface of the moon. However, behind these lucky few over 400,000 men and women worked together to make it possible. In a time before microcomputers, the internet and mobile phones, scientists and engineers collaborated across America to produce one of the most important technological feats of the 20th century.
Christopher Riley will be speaking for the first time about his recent book, ‘Apollo 11 - An Owner’s Manual’, which recounts the story of the scientists and engineers who 40 years ago dared to realise humanity’s dreams of travelling to the moon.
Speaker:
Christopher Riley, writer, broadcaster and film maker
