‘Cycling’, ‘Recycling’, ‘Switching off appliances’, ‘Nothing’, ‘It’s all in the hands of politicians’ - these are some of the answers that visitors to Dana have been posting to our word cloud in response to the question: ‘What actions are you taking personally, professionally or politically to tackle climate change?’

But what are the best actions?

The energy-saving light bulb and salt-and-vinegar crisps with carbon miles? Brenda Boardman shows us some everyday examples that tell us something about the behavioural, technical, economic and political issues of cutting carbon emissions, in particular in low-income households. She was awarded an MBE in 1998 for her work on energy issues and is widely considered one of the most experienced in her field.

Ed Gillespie knows all about personal actions, as in 2007/08 he travelled around the world without flying. As co-founder of Futerra Communications he guards against greenwash while putting some fun and passion into sometimes complex messages.

Unsure about national or international policy? Sarah Millar occupied positions with the Mayor of London and the European Parliament before joining the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

Join our experts to debate ideals v. realism and feasibility v. urgency!
