What happens when science inspires art? Can art inspire science? In 2008 we’ll be trialling our first ever ‘poet-in-residence’ programme. Our virtual poet, Heidi Williamson, will be writing a poem each month, themed around one of our events. Poems will be posted on the comments section of our website for you to check in and check out.

Heidi says: “I find science a great inspiration for my work. Everything we do: breathing, eating a pre-packed sandwich, laughing, getting the bus… relies on so many scientific principles... I think both poetry and science are based on wonder and imagination followed up by painstakingly detailed work... Both can help you look at the incredible world around us afresh.”
